Can I save a tool or item without assigning it to a project?

Absolutely. First, click the box next to the desired item. Then click the Move button, which will open a drop-down menu showing all your projects. Note that there’s also a My Workspace option; choosing this enables you to save an item in My Workspace without assigning it to a project.
